In the Circle: DII and DII Tournament Time, Greg Jones and Rich Wagner
NCAA DII and DIII take center stage on this episode of In The Circle on FastPitch News. We take a look at the teams who made the DII field and share some thoughts on the regions including the loaded South Central where Lone Star Conference foes Angelo State and West Texas A&M are in the SAME REGIONAL. We also look at the South Region where North Alabama will host in their final season before moving up to DI.
A few coaches join Victor. First up is Winona State Head Coach Greg Jones. Coach Jones has the Warriors seeded first in the Central Region heading into the postseason. He chats about their tremendous season, their dramatic NSIC Tournament Championship victory over Augustana, and how last year’s national champion serves as positive motivation.
After the guys recap the remaining field, we are joined by Northwest Nazarene HC Rich Wagner. He helped lead the Nighthawks to a school record in 31 victories en route to their first GNAC Regular Season and Tournament title. Coach Wagner shares his thoughts on their historic year and shares an interesting tidbit about preparing against West Region No. 1 seed and second-ranked Chico State.
We wrap up talking about the DIII bracket and one matchup that has the guys surprised which involved the reigning national champions.
