Beavers make History

Not only did Oregon State make history, winning a series against UCLA, they did it in grand fashion as Natalie Hampton blasted a three-run walk-off home run on Saturday afternoon at OSU Softball Complex. Taylor Cotton (8-4) started the game in the circle and hurled 5 2/3 innings before Nerissa Eason (9-11) relieved her. Eason closed the game throwing the last 1 1/3 innings and recording the win after not allowing a hit.

Utah does it Again!

Walk-offs seemed to be a trend yesterday in college softball. Utah Softball did not settle for just one win against Arizona, FPN’s top team in the nation, so it took the series on Saturday, 3-2, in walk-off fashion against the Wildcats. Alyssa Barrera was the hero this afternoon, delivering a two-out single to secure the win for the Utes. “We had the momentum, I know we did,” Barrera said. “We were having good at-bats the whole game. I mean, the game would pay us back with something falling in a hole or something getting through, because we were putting good swings on her pitches.”

Did you say Walk-off? Ole Miss Sweeps LSU

Freshman Alyssa Gonzalez smashed a historic walk-off 3-run home run to lift Ole Miss to a 3-2 victory and a series sweep over LSU. Ole Miss entered the weekend having never won a series over LSU, not only did they win the series, they swept the Tigers. The Rebels’ pitching staff finished the series with LSU with two shutouts, two complete games, two earned runs, 16 hits, seven strikeouts, and a .198 average against across 22 innings.

Vols like Walk-off approach as well…

Chelsea Seggern gave the Volunteers their 17th straight win with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 3-2, come-from-behind victory in the series opener against No. 9 Alabama on Saturday night in front of a season-high, sellout crowd of 1,935 at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. Saturday’s win was Tennessee’s 17th in a row, which is now the longest active win streak in Division I softball. The Vols have not lost a game since March 18 at Arkansas.

Kentucky Stuns Gators

Meagan Prince threw a two-hitter and clutch at bats from sophomores Katie Reed and Jenny Schaper were the difference in the Wildcats 5-1 win over the Gators on Saturday in front of a record regular-season record crowd of 1,617 fans at John Cropp Stadium. The four-run win for Kentucky over the Gators marks the first time that Florida has lost by four or more runs since March 23, 2015. Game three of the series will be on Easter Sunday at 1 p.m. ET from John Cropp Stadium.
