OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University softball will host the first ever Green vs. Black Game, presented by GIANTS Sunflower Seeds, at Wolverine Field Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Fans can get their first look at the 2013-14 UVU softball team, now under the tutelage of first-year head coach Nikki Palmer. Admission is free and fans will have the opportunity to win prizes through interactive games of softball bingo.

“The idea to host a Green vs Black game was not only to get the girls competing right away this season, but also to bring the community out to meet the new faces of the program,” said Palmer. “We have many strong returners but also many new players and coaches. We want the public to meet the 2014 team and get excited about this year’s season. GIANTS Sunflower Seeds’ sponsorship has allowed us to promote a great deal of fan involvement throughout the game as well. We would like to thank our marketing and SID’s for helping us out to get the fans and community involved in this game. The girls could not be more excited to hit the field and start competing!”

The GIANTS Green vs. Black Game kicks off the fall season for the Wolverines — a slate of seven games played entirely within the Provo-Orem area. The action gets underway next weekend when UVU hosts its annual fall tournament, playing exhibitions against Southern Idaho, SLCC, and Western Nevada.
