Jaeger Bands Proving Beneficial to Softball Players

Jaeger Bands

Not many people make it to a baseball or softball game early enough to watch the warm-ups, but if you ever find yourself there, there’s a good chance you will see a handful of players using bright colored bands attached to a fence. These bright colored bands are called Jaeger Bands and they are making their name known in the baseball and softball communities across the country.

Jaeger Bands are two elastic bands that are held together by a metal clip that attaches to a fence. Once the bands are clipped in place to the fence, the athlete holds onto two black straps at the end of the bands that loop through the palm and the back of the hand. The purpose of the Jaeger Band is to build and maintain the shoulder and arm strength of the athlete. The Jaeger Bands prove to be beneficial in building arm strength and flexibility, as well as maintaining and conditioning the arm so that it will last for the duration of a lengthy and taxing season.

What is the most important body part in baseball or softball? The arm. Jaeger Bands are designed for all position players in baseball and softball. There are many Fastpitch softball pitchers across the country who use Jaeger Bands as part of their pitching warm up routine before practice and games. Jaeger Sports have designed training and exercise programs for athletes who use their product that can be found on their website. They even have a separate section for softball Jaeger Band exercises. There is a visual image provided as well as a description of the exercise and the target areas so athletes know what they should feel.

Danielle Zymkowitz, a utility player, and a six-year veteran of the Chicago Bandits in the National Pro Fastpitch League used Jaeger Bands before every practice and every game throughout the 2016 Summer season. “After five years of playing Professional softball, I started to feel pain in my elbow and began to change my throwing mechanics during my last season to avoid the pain. I made a decision to work very hard on my shoulder strength because I did not want to play in pain for another strenuous summer. I worked every day on the Jaeger bands and long toss. Not only did I start to see improvements within the first month, but I started to trust my arm again. As a utility player, I was moving from the infield to outfield so I was having to change my arm angles every day. Because of my commitment to my Jaeger Band routine, my arm felt strong throughout the whole 2016 season. I would recommend Jaeger Bands to anyone who wants to strengthen their arms and to improve the quality of their game.” –Danielle Zymkowitz
