Home-Field Advantage Exists

Home teams were 11-1 in Conference play last week, and are 20-4 through the first two weeks of MW action.

Spartans Light Up The Scoreboard

San José State wasted little time getting back to work on March 30 after its March 29 home contest with UNLV was suspended in the fifth inning due to inclement weather. When play resumed a day later, the Spartans exploded for 13 runs in the inning and won the game 14-4. San José State did not have an extra-base hit in the inning, recording 12 singles and four walks to score its 13 runs. The 13 runs scored equaled the MW record set on March 22 by Fresno State in its 24-4 victory over Boise State.

Dortch Tosses First No-No Of 2014

Nevada junior right-handed pitcher Megan Dortch threw the first no-hitter of the 2014 MW season on March 28 at home against New Mexico in an 8-0, 6-inning victory for the Wolf Pack. Dortch, who earned MW Pitcher of the Week accolades, struck out five batters in the win. It’s the first no-hitter for a Nevada pitcher since 2011. Two days later, Dortch threw a complete game four-hitter as Nevada completed the series sweep with a 3-1 win.
