Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Softball Holds Pink Practice in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

CORPUS CHRISTI – In honor of breast cancer awareness month, the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi softball team wore all pink to its fall practice Wednesday afternoon. The Islanders will also be wearing pink on Thursday to support the Islanders Volleyball team in its annual Dig Pink match. The team is gearing up for a pair of exhibition doubleheaders this weekend at Chapman Field.

The Islanders picked up a pair of fall exhibition wins last weekend at home against Texas A&M – International. The Islanders won the first game 6-5 and followed it with a 4-1 victory. Junior Hayley Galloway led the Islanders’ bats in the first game with two hits while Valerie Perez, J.J. Jackson, Laura Phillips and Liz Carter each chipped in one apiece. In the second game, Dani Tefft recorded three hits, while Mickayla Cochran, Jessica Mendez and Perez all collected one hit apiece.

The squad will welcome Coastal Bend College on Friday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. before concluding fall play against Alvin Junior College on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. All four games will be played at Chapman Field.
