Akron Racers defeats Chicago Bandits 7-6

Tuesday wasn’t a banner performance for Lisa Norris, but Akron Racers still managed to pull out a 7-6 victory over Chicago Bandits in seven innings at Akron, OH.

Lisa allowed five in five, but the bullpen gave up one run and the offense banged out 10 to pick up the slack and secure the win for Akron Racers.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.

Akron Racers took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. Akron Racers went up for good on an RBI single by Jill Barrett off Ellen Renfroe, platingAshley Thomas.

Akron Racers was led by a flawless day at the dish by Nerissa Myers, who went 1-1 against Chicago Bandits’ pitching. She singled in the fifth inning.

Rachele Fico got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed one run over two innings. She struck out two, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Ellen was the game’s losing pitcher. She lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

Chicago Bandits jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Emily Allard doubled to ignite Chicago Bandits’ offense. A groundout by Danielle Zymkowitz then moved Emily from second to third.

Akron Racers survived Chicago Bandits’ surge and put up two runs of its own in the first. Akron Racers scored on a two-run single by Jessica Garcia.

The lead was Akron Racers’ to lose after sixth inning. More runs came home on a two-run double by Ashley.
