Akron Racers defeats PA Rebellion 8-3

Nerissa Myers went 1-3 and hit a home run, sparking Akron Racers to an 8-3 victory in seven innings over PA Rebellion on Tuesday at Akron, OH.

She homered in the third inning.

PA Rebellion was led by a flawless day at the dish by Lauren Lappin, who went 3-3 against Akron Racers’ pitching. She homered in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.

Rachele Fico recorded the win for Akron Racers. She allowed two runs over four innings. She struck out two, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Tatum Edwards took the loss for PA Rebellion. She allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.

Akron Racers closer Hannah Campbell put away the final nine outs to record the save.

Akron Racers stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring one run on an RBI single by Jill Barrett.

Akron Racers built upon its lead with seven runs in the third. Ashley Thomas‘s single got things going, plating Olivia Watkins. That was followed up by Ayumi Karino‘s single, bringing home Jessica Garcia.

Two runs in the top of the fourth helped PA Rebellion close its deficit to 8-2. A two-run home run by Lappin gave PA Rebellion life. The PA Rebellion threat came to an end when Fico finally got Samantha Garcia to ground out.

One run in the top of the seventh helped PA Rebellion close its deficit to 8-3. A solo home run by Briana Hamilton fueled PA Rebellion’s comeback. The game went final when Jenn Salling struck out.
