Akron Racers defeats USSSA Pride 4-2

Akron Racers beat USSSA Pride 4-2 in seven innings on Thursday at Akron, OH behind Kelley Montalvo, who went 2-3 and hit a home run.

She singled in the second inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Lisa Norris was a workhorse on the rubber while bagging the win for Akron Racers. Norris pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Keilani Ricketts was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven Akron Racers batters and allowing three runs.

USSSA Pride was led by Amanda Kamekona‘s hitting. Kamekona went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the fourth inning.

Ricketts was charged with the loss.

USSSA Pride jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third. A single by Natasha Watley, bringing home Bridgette DelPonte started the inning off.

It didn’t take long for Akron Racers to respond as it scored one run of its own in the fourth. Akron Racers scored on a solo home run by Charlotte Morgan.
