USSSA Pride defeats Akron Racers after late game triple, 7-5

USSSA Pride outlasted Akron Racers on Sunday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-5 win at Dallas, TX.

USSSA Pride finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. USSSA Pride went up for good on an RBI triple by Andrea Duran off Lisa Norris, scoring Madison Shipman.

Shipman put herself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for USSSA Pride. She homered in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Jordan Taylor put together a nice outing. Taylor gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six during her two innings of work.

USSSA Pride was sparked by Duran and Shipman, who teamed up for three hits and three RBIs.

Norris couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Akron Racers, taking a loss. She allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.

Akron Racers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The Akron Racers attack began with a single from Taylor SchlopyKelley Montalvo singled, bringing home Jill Barrett.

Akron Racers matched its one-run second inning with one more in the fourth. In the second, Akron Racers scored on a sacrifice fly by Nerissa Myers, platingAyumi Karino.

USSSA Pride scored two runs of its own in the second. USSSA Pride scored on a two-run home run by Shipman.

USSSA Pride went up for good in the sixth scoring five total runs, which came home on a sacrifice fly by Kelly Kretschman and a two-run single by GiOnna DiSalvatore.
