USSSA Pride and Akron Racers passed the lead back and forth four times on Friday at Akron, OH, but in the end USSSA Pride pulled out an 8-4 win in seven innings over Akron Racers.
USSSA Pride finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. USSSA Pride went up for good on an RBI single by GiOnna DiSalvatore off Lisa Norris, plating Caitlin Lowe.
Kristyn Sandberg racked up two RBIs on two hits for USSSA Pride. She singled in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning.
Jordan Taylor recorded the win for USSSA Pride. She allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings. Taylor struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.
Norris was the game’s losing pitcher. She lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
Akron Racers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Akron Racers’ threat began with a single by Ashley Thomas. A groundout by Jill Barrett then moved Thomas from first to second. Nerissa Myers singled, scoring Thomas.
