Sunday was a great day for Madison Shipman, as she clubbed two home runs to carry USSSA Pride to a 9-1 victory over Akron Racers at Columbus, OH in seven innings.
Six runs in the first three innings helped USSSA Pride blow out Akron Racers. A three-run home run by Shipman during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Caitlin Lowe and an RBI single by Shipman in the second inning supplied the early offense for USSSA Pride.
Akron Racers had no answer for Danielle Lawrie, who kept runners off the basepaths in her appearance. Lawrie held Akron Racers hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Akron Racers was led by Haley Outon‘s hitting. Outon went 1-2, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the third inning.
Keilani Ricketts got the win for USSSA Pride. She allowed one run over four innings. Ricketts struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.
USSSA Pride was sparked by Lowe and Shipman, who teamed up for five hits and six RBIs.
Lannah Campbell couldn’t get it done in the circle for Akron Racers, taking a loss. She lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
