Sara Moulton Announces Retirement, Shares what Softball has Meant

Sara Moulton has announced her retirement from National Pro Fastpitch.

The two-time Cowles-Cup Champion became the first player from the state of Minnesota to play in the NPF.  She was the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NPF Draft and second selection for the Chicago Bandits.

She finished with a career-record of 15-8 over three seasons, 136.1 innings pitched and a 3.80 earned run average.

In high school, the Eagan, Minn., native was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year, 2008 State Champion and the 2010 Minnesota Miss Softball recipient.

As a Gopher, Moulton holds the school record for wins (112), appearances (178), innings pitched (1,017), complete games (108), no-hitters (5), shutouts (47) and strikeouts (1,184). She was a four-time All-Big Ten honoree and named the 2011 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Shortly after her senior season concluded, Moulton was named a NFCA Second Team All-American, becoming the first Gopher to earn All-America honors as a pitcher.

In 2014, Moulton became the co-owner of Strike Zone Sports in her hometown of Eagan, MN and is one of the lead pitching instructors. She is also the current Editor for Fastpitch News.
