BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference unveiled its ninth annual Preseason All-SEC Team to highlight the upcoming season of SEC softball.
Auburn and Florida led all schools with three selections each. Alabama and LSU have two representatives apiece on the squad, while Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee each had one player named to the team.
Making their third consecutive appearance on the preseason team are Alabama’s Haylie McCleney, Auburn’s Emily Carosone and Florida’s Kelsey Stewart. Kasey Cooper of Auburn, Alex Hugo of Georgia and Bianka Bell of LSU all appeared on last season’s preseason team.
The Preseason All-SEC Softball Team is voted on by the league’s head coaches and consists of a minimum of 14 players. Each SEC head coach voted for five infielders, four outfielders, three pitchers, one catcher and one designated player/utility. No ties were broken.
In a class-by-class breakdown, the 2016 team consists of 11 seniors, one junior and two sophomores.
