EL PASO, Texas – UTEP softball senior Erika Arcuri was named to the Madness 2014 Conference USA Preseason All-Conference first team on Saturday.
College Sports Madness has picked the top players in college softball who expect to make significant contributions to their team in the upcoming season.
Arcuri was also named the 2013 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year after the 2013 season. The Tampa, Fla. native led the Miners in batting average (.347) and runs (26). The transfer from FIU ranked second in hits (50) and walks (16), while only striking out 11 times in 144 at bats. Arcuri started 45 games in centerfield, posting a .963 fielding percentage and tallied 70 putouts.
The 2014 season starts on Friday, Feb. 7 against Nebraska at the Hotel Encanto Tournament hosted by NM State. Game time is slated for 9:30 a.m. MT.
