IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head softball coach Marla Looper released the 2013 fall schedule Wednesday. It features seven home games, highlighted by the 2013 All Iowa Classic.
The 2013 Iowa Classic will be held Sept. 28-29 at Pearl Field in Iowa City and will feature in-state foes Drake, Northern Iowa, Upper Iowa, and Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series rival Iowa State. The Hawkeyes will play two games each day opening with Drake at 4 p.m. and Iowa State at 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 and ending with Northern Iowa at 3:30 p.m. and Upper Iowa at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.
Iowa wraps up its fall campaign in October with a single contest on against Marshalltown Community College on Oct. 4 and a doubleheader on Oct. 12 against Kansas and Kirkwood Community College.
In 2013, the Hawkeyes posted a 30-win season that included six wins over nationally ranked opponents. The squad returns All-Big Ten honorees Kayla Massey and Megan Blank and a total of six starters.
