Texas Tech’s Jordan Bettiol has claimed Big 12 Player of the Week recognition after reaching base in 13 of 16 plate appearances in the Red Raider’s perfect 4-0 weekend at the UT Arlington Invitational while Kansas’ Alicia Pille earned Pitcher of the Week honors after a 3-0 weekend that saw the Jayhawk senior sit down a total of 23 batters in just over 18 innings of work.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Bettiol, Texas Tech, Jr., OF, College Station, Texas/Nebraska
Bettiol reached base in 13 of 16 plate appearances last weekend as Texas Tech went a perfect 4-0 at the UT Arlington Invitational. Bettiol finished 10-for-13 at the plate for a team-leading .769 average finishing with at least two hits in three of Tech’s four games. The only game that Bettiol finished with less than two hits came in the tournament finale against Prairie View A&M where she went 1-for-1 overall with a pair of walks and two stolen bases. Bettiol ended the weekend with an impressive .813 on-base percentage to go along with an .846 slugging percentage, driving in four RBI and totaling four stolen bases as well. Her best performance of the weekend came Friday night when she notched a career-high four hits in Tech’s 10-6 come-from-behind victory over UT Arlington. Her four hits were the most by a Red Raider since former Tech outfielder Sydni Emanuel totaled the same amount on March 16 last year against Long Beach State. She followed the performance with a 3-for-4 showing Saturday against UMKC, her third game with three or more hits already this year.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Alicia Pille, Kansas, Sr., Royce City, Texas/Royce City
Pille won all three starts she made as the Jayhawks competed at the University of Florida’s Aquafina Invitational, including a 4-2 decision over Illinois State to help Kansas set a program record for wins to open a season at 12. The senior fanned 10 in the win over the Redbirds on Friday, then struck out nine more Saturday in seven shutout innings against Mercer. Pille beat Illinois State a second time Sunday morning to secure a 4-1 record for Kansas at the tournament. For the weekend, she posted a 1.53 ERA and struck out 23 in 18.1 innings pitched.
