BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University softball team wraps up its series of fall exhibition games with three home contests at Ford Park this weekend.
The Cardinals host San Jacinto Community College at 6 p.m. Thursday, Galveston Community College at 2 p.m. Friday and Lamar State College-Port Arthur at 2 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission charge to all home fall exhibition games.
“I’ve definitely seen some progress since the start of the fall season,” Lamar coach Holly Bruder said. “It’s been tough at times because of all of the rain, but we’re heading in the right direction.”
Sunday’s game has been designated as Strike Out Cancer Day. The Cardinals will wear special pink uniforms to promote breast cancer awareness.
Lamar, which went 24-35 last season in its first softball campaign since 1987, opens the regular season in February.
