WACO, Texas – The Lipscomb Lady Bisons needed only five innings to get their first win in the Getterman Classic at Baylor University.

The Lady Bisons managed only five hits, but capitalized on timely hitting and four Iowa errors for a 10-0 win Friday morning. The game was called due to the run-rule.

After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first, the Lady Bisons added two more in the second.

Right-hander Tanner Sanders earned her third win and first shutout in as many appearances this season. She scattered six hits, walked three and struck out one.

Brianne Welch slammed her first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the right center field fence as part of a six-run fifth inning for the Lady Bisons. Welch led the Lady Bisons in run scored with two and in RBI with two.

Also getting hits for the Lady Bisons were Paige Neely, Gracey Aguirre, Mimi Cartwright and Rena’ Cothron.

The Lady Bisons are 5-0. Iowa falls to 2-3. The Lady Bisons play again at 12:30 p.m. against Drake.
