MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Head Softball Coach Jeff Breeden announced the late addition of junior-transfer Carlie Jenkins. Jenkins will be eligible to play beginning this season.

Jenkins, a junior-transfer from Weatherford College, led her squad with a .377 average from the plate while pacing the team with 57 hits and 41 RBI. The first basemen/outfielder led the team with 15 swipes on the base paths, and even pieced together a season-best 11-game hitting streak. In her freshman season with Northwest Mississippi Community College, Jenkins posted a .364 batting average and led the team in hits (39),walks (39), doubles (7) and triples (5). In 35 games with NWCC, she notched a hit in 25 games and posted 12 multi-hit contests.
At Rockwall High School in Texas, Jenkins was a four-year letterwinner in softball and a four-time all district selection. She helped her team capture four-straight district championships while hitting .392 her senior year with seven doubles, three triples, a home run and 22 stolen bases.
The Rockwall, Texas native will major in exercise science at MT and plans to become a physical therapy assistant after graduation.
Breeden on Jenkins: ” We are very fortunate to get a player of Carlie’s caliber at the mid-year break. She is going to fill a void for us at first base. Carlie is a player with all the tools. She hits from the left side, is a base stealing threat and has a very good glove. We expect her to make an immediate impact on our team.”
Jenkins will be one of 13 players on the roster that will play in their first year in a Blue Raider uniform.
The Blue Raiders will kick-off their season in Starkville, Miss., next weekend for the Mississippi State Tournament. MT will square off against host Mississippi State on Friday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
