Player of the Week Allison Brown • Ole Miss Senior • 3B • Los Alamitos, Calif.Brown hit. .778 (7-for-9) to lead Ole Miss’ offense in a series sweep at Arkansas, marking the first sweep in a three-game SEC series for the Rebels since the 2012 season and the first SEC series sweep of a three-game series on the road since the 2005 season. She hit a three-run home run to give Ole Miss the lead in the series opener at Arkansas on the way to the win. Brown drove in the game-tying run in the sixth inning with an RBI double before drawing a walk that would represent the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Rebels picked up the extra-inning win in game two at Arkansas. She posted an .800 on base percentage on the week, including an .833 on base percentage in the series at Arkansas. The senior reached base 10 times in 14 plate appearances and did not strike out on the week.
Co-Pitchers of the Week Kelsey Nunley • Kentucky Junior • RHP • Soddy Daisy, Tenn.Nunley tossed 13.2 innings overall with only two earned runs allowed and 13 strikeouts. In the first game of the series vs. LSU, she tossed a complete game, allowing only one run and one walk. The win was Kentucky’s first over a No. 1 ranked team. In game two of the series, Nunley came on in the seventh inning with a runner on and two outs and got a three-pitch strikeout to end the game and earn her third save of the season and sixth of her career – tying the school record for career saves.
Alexis Silkwood • Mississippi State Sophomore • LHP • East Alton, Ill.Silkwood began the week with a no-hitter vs. Southern Miss, the first of her career and the 16th in the MSU record books. She fanned eight batters in the six-inning contest. Silkwood then picked up a complete-game victory over No. 2 Florida with five strikeouts to her credit. She is currently ranked first in the SEC in wins (18) and innings pitched (138.0), and second in strikeouts (151) and appearances (27).
Freshman of the Week Demi Turner • Alabama IF • Huntsville, TexasTurner had three multi-hit games over the week, hitting .462 (6-13) with five RBI and four runs scored. In Alabama’s win over No. 2 Florida Monday, she scored the final run while also laying down two sacrifice bunts during the game. Turner drove in three runs on a pair of singles in Saturday’s comeback victory over No. 23 Texas A&M. She scored a run in all but one game this week, and now leads the team with 15 multi-hit games this season.
