COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland announced today that softball head coach Laura Watten’s contract term is expiring June 30 and she has decided to pursue other opportunities and to spend more time with family; therefore, she has declined to enter into another contract with the University of Maryland.

“We appreciate Laura’s contribution to the softball program over the past nine years,” said Maryland director of athletics Kevin Anderson. “We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

Watten spent the last nine seasons at the helm for the Terrapins, garnering a 280-228 record. Maryland went 11-35 (7-16 ACC) in 2014.

A national search for the head coaching position will commence immediately.
