Dallas Charge Take Series with USSSA Pride with 3-1 Win

Dallas-Charge

San Diego, CA – (July 9, 2016) – Morgan Melloh threw nine innings against the USSSA Pride Saturday night allowing just one run on seven hits.  She struck out eight and most importantly walked just three.  The win was just the second time the Charge have put together back-to-back victories this summer and the first ever sweep of the USSSA Pride.

The Charge managed just three hits off Keilani Ricketts, but the visitors made them count.  Kylee Lahners smashed her league leading sixth home run in the top of the fourth to give Dallas a 1-0 lead.

The Pride battled back in the sixth on the strength of two singles and walk, tying the game at one.

In the ninth inning the Charge scored two runs.  Rookie Taylor Gadbois ended up on second at a Pride throwing error.  Renada Davis singled her home and raced all the way to third on another Pride mistake.  Lauren Haeger brought her home with a foul ball sacrifice fly to deep right field, pushing the Charge lead to 3-1.  Melloh set the Pride down in order in their last at bat to secure the win.

The Charge improved to 9-15.  The first place Pride dropped to 17-5.  The two teams will face off again in Kansas City on July 13.

Charge 3  Pride 1  Box Score 7-9-16
