WASHINGTON, PA- July 14, 2015 —Fans were treated to an amazing game in tonight’s matchup as the Pennsylvania Rebellion edged the Dallas Charge by a score of 5-4. This was the second consecutive night that the Rebellion has claimed a victory from a one-run margin. Relief pitcher Haylie Wagner earned her first win of the season, while Jolene Henderson suffered the loss.

The Charge struck first as they plated one run in the second inning off of a Kaylyn Castillo’s single that scored Nadia Taylor. The Rebellion retaliated with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the third. Brittney Lindley led off the frame with a walk and left fielder Samie Garcia joined her on the base paths with a single. Shortstop Whitney Arion reached on a fielder’s choice and that allowed Lindley to score. The next batter, second baseman Haruna Sakamoto, lined a single to drive in Garcia and Arion. Catcher Kristyn Sandberg added another Rebellion run with a single of her own, which scored Sakamoto.

Dallas responded to the Rebellion onslaught in the fourth inning to trim their deficit to 4-3. First baseman Kaitlyn Richardson and Castillo collected back-to-back hits to begin the top half. Right fielder Ashley Burkhardt hit a single back up the middle to bring in Richardson. On the same play, stellar defense by Rebellion center fielder Courtney Senas saved a crucial run, as she threw out Castillo at home plate attempting to score from second.

The Charge would not give up without a fight and battled back to tie the game at four apiece on Taylor’s sacrifice fly to right field with center fielder Eri Yamada scoring in the top of the fifth, but the Rebellion rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to score a go-ahead run and take a 5-4 lead. Senas crushed a double to center to drive in right fielder Alexa Peterson.

Wagner held the Dallas bats at bay when she appeared in the top of the 6th. She did not allow a Dallas base runner in the final two innings to help seal a victory for the Rebellion.

PA and Dallas will face off yet again on Wednesday, July 15 at CONSOL Energy Park. First pitch from game three of the four-game bill is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, please visit the Rebellion front office, call 724-250-9555 or visit www.pennsylvaniarebellion.com.
