PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference announced its annual softball awards on Wednesday, which were voted on by the league’s seven head coaches.

UCF’s Jessica Ujvari was named the American Player of the Year. Teammate Shelby Turnier garnered American Pitcher of the Year honors while Memphis freshman Kyler Trosclair was named American Rookie of the Year. UCF was tabbed as the American Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Ujvari led the conference in three major categories in league play including batting average (.383), slugging percentage (.638) on-base percentage (.500). She was named the American Player of the Week on April 20 following UCF’s sweep of Memphis. The senior is the second Knight to claim American Player of the Year accolades as senior Farrah Sullivan earned the same honor in 2014.

Turnier garnered American Pitcher of the Week honors five times this season. She is tied for first in the conference in wins (8) and leads The American in earned run average (0.47), opposing batting average (.137) and strikeouts (91) in league play. The junior has thrown two no-hitters this season in conference play and is a top-26 finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year honors.

Trosclair leads Memphis in hits (15) and runs (9) in conference play. The rookie has seen time at shortstop and the outfield this season, has started all 18 conference games, and is the team’s leadoff hitter. UCF claimed American Coaching Staff of the Year honors after winning the league’s regular season title for the second year in a row. The Knights have remained top 20 in the national polls for 10 consecutive weeks and lead the nation in ERA while two of their pitchers rank top five in the NCAA in individual earned run average.

The all-conference teams consist of 25 student-athletes from six teams. Ties are not broken. A complete list of awards is listed below.
