A-Sun Awards Weekly Softball Players

MACON, Ga. – Dani Devlin of Northern Kentucky and Kendall Settlemyre of USC Upstate shared this week’s Atlantic Sun Softball Player of the Week honors. North Florida’s Kayla Goff took home the Pitcher of the Week honor, announced by the league office on Monday.

Settlemyre powered USC Upstate to a conference-opening sweep over Kennesaw State to earn Co-Player of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career. The senior third basemen hit two grand slams, including one in the series finale. She finished the week with four home runs and 12 RBIs as the Spartans put together a 5-2 record. Her first grand slam came in a midweek win over North Carolina, and she capped her week with a grand slam against the Owls. Her slugging percentage was .913 for the week, while she hit .400 in the series against KSU to start league play.

NKU’s Devlin led the Norse to three victories last week and earned her first Co-Player of the Week honor. She went 9-16 with five extra-base hits, including three doubles to lead the Norse offense. After a three-run home run against Tennessee State to start the week, Devlin capped off her week going 5-8 with three doubles and four RBIs as the Norse took the series from Alabama State. She walked four times and finished the week batting .563 with a slugging percentage of 1.125.

Goff wins her second Pitcher of the Week award this season, third of her career after not allowing an earned run in three total appearances this past week. In two conference games against FGCU, Goff pitched complete games and struck out eight batters. She led the Ospreys to the series win after they dropped the opening game. She totaled 14 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched and only allowed two walks. With an 0.00 era this past week, Goff improved her season ERA to 1.69, second best in the conference.

– Defensively she posted five putouts and three assists helping NKU to 3-2 record on the week

– Ranks second in the A-Sun in ERA at 1.69 and fourth in strikeouts with 64
