OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Not even the red-hot Georgia softball team could derail clutch Auburn at the College World Series on Saturday.
The Tigers beat the Bulldogs 4-3, scoring three runs in the seventh to win for the 11th time in the last 12 games and moving within a win of the World Series best-of-three championship series.
Kasey Cooper and Emily Carosone each drove in a run to tie it up in the seventh before a Jade Rhodes groundout gave Auburn the lead.
Georgia threatened in the bottom of the seventh, getting runners on first and second. Pitcher Rachael Walters didn’t blink. She got out of the inning.
Auburn improved to 56-10. Georgia, who has had a storybook run in the postseason, fell to 46-19.
