BIG EAST Player of the Week
Erin Burner, St. John’s, Sr., C
Erin Burner earned the Red Storm’s second-consecutive BIG EAST Player of the Week honor after an impressive performance in Harrisonburg, Virginia, last weekend. Burner finished the JMU Dukes Invitational batting .625 (5-for-8) with two home runs, five RBI, five runs scored and three walks for a 1.375 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage. The senior finished 2-for-2 with three walks in the Red Storm’s 8-5 victory over Stony Brook, snapping a seven-game losing streak for St. John’s and giving Head Coach Amy Kvilhaug her 300th career victory.

BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Brette Lawrence, Villanova, So., P
Lawrence becomes the second Wildcat to be the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week in as many weeks, following Kate Poppe on March 2. Lawrence pitched in three games against Maine, SIUE and Bowling Green last weekend. She totaled 13.2 innings, allowed zero earned runs and only surrendering six hits. She earned the victory in both the Maine and Bowling Green games, giving her a 2-0 record on the season. The wins were the first two of her collegiate career.

 

Weekly Honor Roll

Kristie Dederick, Providence, Sr., 1B
Dederick led PC at the UCLA Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament going 5-for-11 (.455) with five RBI, three runs scored and two home runs in four games played. She went 2-for-3 with two hits, one home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the Friars’ first win of the season against Illinois.

Liz Dike, Creighton, Sr., INF
Dike was responsible for all six RBI for Creighton in a pair of games against Akron and Presbyterian on Sunday. She led the squad with a .400 batting average and recorded her first home run of the season and fourth triple of the year.

Sydney Eck, Creighton, So., P
Eck earned a win in her season debut against Presbyterian, recording a complete-game shutout by holding the Blue Hose to .192 batting and striking out seven.

Brittany Husk, Villanova, Fr., INF
Husk batted .286 on the weekend, rounded the plate four times, added a double, stole the first two bases of her career and she struck her first two homeruns of her career, giving her the team lead in the category.

Whitney Jones, Seton Hall, Sr., 1B
Jones led The Hall with a .400 batting average in a 2-3 week for the Pirates. She boasted an .800 slugging percentage to go along with a pair of home runs and a team-best nine RBI.
