C-USA Softball Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Florida Atlantic freshman Kylee Hanson has been named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after throwing two complete game victories, striking out 14 and not allowing an earned run last week. UTSA junior Megan Low has been tabbed the C-USA Player of the Week after hitting four home runs, a double and collecting seven RBI with a 1.636 slugging percentage.

Pitcher of the Week – Kylee Hanson, Florida Atlantic, Fr., Jupiter, Fla.

Hanson threw two complete games and did not surrender an earned run in either contest last week. Against Florida Gulf Coast, the freshman threw 7.0 innings, striking out nine and didn’t allow an earned run in a 3-1 win over the Eagles. On Saturday, Hanson threw a complete game shutout in 4-0 win over league rival Charlotte with five strikeouts and just three hits. For the week, the Jupiter, Fla., native tossed 14.0 innings with 14 strikeouts, allowing just six hits and posting a 0.00 ERA. This is Hanson’s first Pitcher of the Week award of her career.

Player of the Week – Megan Low, UTSA, Jr., 1B/C, Spring, Texas

Low hit .455 with four home runs, a double and seven RBI to lead the Roadrunners to a pair of wins last week. She also walked four times, including two intentional passes, for a .625 on-base percentage out of the leadoff spot in the order to go along with a 1.636 slugging percentage. Low started the week by tying a school record with three homers in her first three at-bats against rival Texas State on April 9. She opened the game with a solo shot that was followed by a pair of two-run blasts for a total of five RBI in the victory. The Spring, Texas, native homered again in the second game of UTSA’s series at FIU to push her NCAA-leading total to 20 on the season. In addition, the junior extended her reached-base streak to 25 consecutive games and recorded 32 putouts and an assist in the field. This is Low’s second Player of the Week award of the season (Feb. 10) and of her career.
