C-USA Softball Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas – FIU freshman Stephanie Texeira has been tabbed the C-USA Player of the Week after leading the Panthers with five RBI over the weekend and collecting two multi-hit games in a three-game sweep of conference foe North Texas. Tulsa senior Aimee Creger earns her 14th career Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honor as she struck out 20 batters over 12.0 innings and pitched two shutouts, including a no-hitter, to lead the Golden Hurricane to four wins last week.

Player of the Week – Stephanie Texeira, FIU, Fr., 1B, Miami
Texeira batted .800 over the weekend in three-game sweep against then-second place North Texas. The freshman went 4-for-5 with four walks against one of the conference’s top pitchers in Ashley Kirk. In game two, she collected the second multi-home run game of her young career, as she hit home runs in consecutive plate appearances, as part of a 2-for-2 showing. The two home runs adds to her conference lead for freshman with 11 long balls this season. She led the team with five RBI over the weekend, collecting two multi-hit games, earning two RBI in game two and three RBI in the series finale on Sunday. Texeira went a perfect 2-for-2 in games two and three, with a team-best three RBI in Sunday’s matchup. She slugged 2.000 over the weekend and held onto an impressive .900 on-base percentage. Texeira went 1-for-1 on the base paths and led the team in runs scored with five. Her weekend performance boosted her batting average above .400 again, as she is now boasting a .404 this season. This is her second C-USA Player of the Week honor and first outright as she shared the award following the opening week of the season.

Pitcher of the Week – Aimee Creger, Tulsa, Sr., Yukon, Okla.
Creger struck out 20 batters over 12.0 innings and pitched two shutouts, including a no-hitter, to lead Tulsa to four wins last week. She allowed just three hits and seven walks in wins over Oklahoma State and Middle Tennessee. Creger struck out 11 batters in a three-hitter to shut down Oklahoma State on the road in a 1-0 win April 23. She came back Saturday to pitch her third no-hitter of the season and seventh of her career, striking out nine batters in a five-inning 8-0 win over Middle Tennessee in Game 1 of the series. This is her 14th career C-USA Pitcher of the Week honor and sixth this season.
