IRVING, Texas – WKU ace Miranda Kramer notched her C-USA record-tying seventh Conference USA Pitcher of the Week award after striking out 59 batters and recording one earned run in 33.2 innings pitched. Her week included four complete-games, her second no-hitter of the season, two 18-strikeout performances, including one against No. 17 Kentucky, and the new C-USA single-game strikeout record with her 18 against Charlotte. UAB’s Caitlin Attfield secured C-USA Player of the Week honors after posting a .700 batting average that included a pair of doubles and home run to go along with three RBI and six runs scored in the Blazers’ sweep of Southern Miss.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
MIRANDA KRAMER, WKU | SR., BURLINGTON, IOWA
Kramer put up some of her best numbers of the year over the week. Pitching all four games, Kramer finished with 59 strikeouts, nine hits, one earned run and a .083 opponent batting average in 33.2 innings of work. Kramer set a new strikeout record in league games for C-USA, striking out 18 in an 11-inning effort against Charlotte, breaking the previous C-USA record of 17 strikeouts, as Tulsa’s Aimee Creger was the last pitcher to do it in 2014 against UTEP. It was one short of the senior’s career high, as she had 19 against Troy earlier this season in a seven-inning contest. The Iowa native tossed 18 strikeouts earlier this week in an extra-inning loss at No. 17 Kentucky. Kramer tossed her second no-hitter of the year on Saturday against the 49ers. It was the ninth no-hitter in school history, as Kramer is the first pitcher at WKU to ever toss two no-hitters in a season and career. With 346 strikeouts this season, Kramer is seventh in the C-USA single-season records. She now sits tied with ECU’s Toni Paisley (2009, 2010) and Southern Miss’ Courtney Blades (2000) for the most C-USA weekly awards in a season (seven).

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CAITLIN ATTFIELD, UAB | JR., NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK
Attfield lifted UAB to a series sweep of Southern Miss with a .700 average (7-for-10) for the weekend, along with a home run, two doubles, three RBI, six runs scored and a 1.200 slugging percentage from the leadoff spot. The shortstop tied a single-game school record with four hits in game two on Saturday, including a home run, a double, three runs scored and three RBI. In game one, Attfield accounted for two of the Blazers’ three runs scored along with a double on 2-for-3 hitting. The Niagara Falls, N.Y. native rounded out her weekend with a single and runs scored in the series finale on Sunday to hoist her average for the season to .490 and her on-base percentage to .529. The junior is on pace to shatter her own school records for batting average (.425 in 2014) and on-base percentage (.473 in 2014), as well as the school slugging percentage record (.656 this season, .628 by Kristen McGrath in 2014).
