NEW YORK – The St. John’s softball team (4-5) found itself on the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the second time in as many weeks as junior Erin Burner and freshman Grace Kramer were both honored for their performances this past weekend at the Arkansas Invitational.

Burner led the Red Storm to a 4-3 victory over Jackson State on Saturday morning, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and a double. In her four games this weekend, the junior finished 6-for-13 (.462) with a 1.231 slugging percentage, two doubles, a triple, two home runs, three RBI and six runs.

Kramer earned her first collegiate honors after earning her first career save in the win over Jackson State on Saturday. The freshman pitcher started the game, allowing a pair of runs on five hits before returning to close the game for the last two outs and pick up the save. In two appearances at the Arkansas Invitational, Kramer posted nine strikeouts and a 2.21 ERA in 6.1 innings of work.

DePaul swept the weekly honors as Kirsten Verdun and Mary Connolly took the BIG EAST Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

The Red Storm will take a week hiatus before it heads down to Athens, Ga., for the Sixth-Annual Bulldog Invitational where it will take on UAB, Georgia and Western Carolina, Feb. 28-March 2. After the conclusion of the Bulldog Invitational, the Red Storm heads straight to Clearwater, Fla., for spring break where it will play against the three-time (2009, 2011, 2013) European Champion Dutch National Team in an exhibition game (March 5) before heading to the USF-Under Armour Invitational on March 7-9.
