BOCA RATON, FL (November 22, 2013) – Florida Atlantic University head softball coach Joan Joyce has signed four players to join the Owls in the fall of 2014.
Alex Miller played was a four-year member of the varsity squad who played catcher and shortstop at Oviedo-Hagerty High School. As a catcher, she was named First Team All-State by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) and Second Team All-State by the Orlando Miracle Sports Association. She was also a member of the National Honor Society in high school.
Emily Lochten is a utility player from Boynton Beach. Lochten is expected to play behind the plate for the Owls, but was a First Team FACA and Second Team All-State Miracle Sports selection as a shortstop at Park Vista High School.
Tatum Buckley is the reigning Connecticut Gatorade High School Softball Player of the Year. Buckley was named a First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She is a two-time All-State selection who led Monroe-Masuk High School to a perfect 27-0 record and a Class L State title.
Caitlin Hogue is a utility player from Naples. She was a Second Team Miracle Sports All-State selection. Hogan was named Best Defensive Player for from Barron Collier High School.
All four signees are expected to take the field for the 2015 season. The Owls will lose three seniors off of this year’s squad.
