STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Softball Head Coach Annie Smith has named Marie Fogle as Assistant Coach for the 2015 season. A three-time All-SoCon honoree, Fogle helped lead the Eagles to a league championship in 2012 and a trip to NCAA Tournament.
“We are excited to add Marie Fogle to our coaching staff,” said Coach Smith. “It is always a privilege to have a former player return to her alma mater, especially during such an exciting time for the program with the move to the Sun Belt. Marie was an outstanding player for us and her enthusiasm and experience will be a nice addition to our staff.”
As a player, Fogle completed her career as one of the best hitters in program history recording .345 career batting average which ranks as the third-best average in school history. She is the school record holder with a .553 career slugging percentage and has 27 home runs to her name.
As a senior playing centerfield for the Eagles in 2012, Fogle hit leadoff as the team set a school record with a 42-20 overall record and the program’s second SoCon Regular Season Championship. As a senior, she hit .397en route to NFCA All-Region honors.
After her playing time at Georgia Southern, Fogle has worked on the coaching side at Effingham County High School, Ebenezer Middle School and with a local U-14 travel ball team.
A native of Rincon, Ga., Fogle graduated from the University in 2012 with her degree in middle grades education.
