SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball program and head coach Shayne Lotito are pleased to announce the addition of Heather Rush to Bulldog staff as Pitching Coach for the upcoming 2014-15 season.
“We are extremely excited to have Heather on board this year,” said Lotito. “We feel that her presence on our staff and her expertise in this aspect of the game will help take us one step closer to the goals we have set for the program going forward.”
Rush, who spent the last two seasons as the top assistant at Providence College, will bring a wealth of collegiate playing and coaching experience to Smithfield this academic year. While at PC, Rush worked primarily with the pitching staff and the outfielders, as well as heading up the team’s recruiting and compliance responsibilities. Rush was also instrumental in the program’s fundraising efforts, helping raise $8,000 as part of the First Annual Friar Bowling Classic.
Prior to her time in Providence, Rush spent a season as an assistant at Drexel and a year at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia.
“Heather will bring a lot of knowledge and experience to our pitchers, and will help continue to develop them into a formidable staff,” added Lotito. “In addition to her technical prowess, Heather brings great enthusiasm, passion, hard work, and a love for the game that will only add to our growing culture.”
Rush played collegiately at Alvin Community College, Troy University, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Houston, where she graduated from in 2011 with a degree in psychology.
