Jackie Reed Named To Season’s First BIG EAST Honor Roll

NEW YORK (Feb. 10, 2014) – With the help of a team-leading .400 batting average and a pair of home runs this weekend, St. John’s senior Jackie Reed was named to the first BIG EAST weekly honor roll of the 2014 softball season.

Reed finished the five-game opening weekend with a .400 average (6-15), picking up a pair of solo home runs for an .800 slugging percentage at the FAU “Kick-Off” Classic in Boca Raton, Fla. The senior first baseman led the Red Storm to a 2-3 record in the tournament, including a come-from-behind win over FAU and a 6-3 victory over Ohio State.

The BIG EAST Player of the Week was given to Seton Hall’s Meredith Henze while DePaul’s Kirsten Verdun was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.

St. John’s returns to action this weekend when it heads to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Arkansas Invitational on Feb. 14-15.
