Player of the Week
Sahvanna Jaquish • LSU
Junior • C/INF • Highland, Calif.
Jaquish helped lead LSU to four run-rule victories in five games as she hit .692 with nine RBIs, two doubles and a grand slam this week. She had a slugging percentage of 1.077 and an on-base percentage of .765 as she had multiple hits in all but one contest. Against UConn, Jaquish tied her personal career best and came one RBI shy of tying the school record for most in a game as she drove in all six in the same inning, using a two RBI double and then a grand slam in the third to help power LSU to its biggest win so far this season.
Pitcher of the Week
Erin Gabriel • Tennessee
Senior • RHP • Poland, Ohio
Gabriel threw a complete game in all three of her outings and recorded 10-plus strikeouts in all three outings as well, including 13 in the season-opener against Creighton. She allowed only three hits in a complete-game shutout over the Bluejays. Gabriel also limited a potent Northwestern offense to just four hits and two runs (one earned) after they had scored 37 runs combined in their previous two contests. Gabriel also held opposing hitters to a .147 batting average.
Freshman of the Week
Keeli Milligan • Texas A&M
LF • Vidor, Texas
Milligan batted .500 at the Aggie Classic at the top of the lineup for the Aggies. She recorded eight steals in the opening weekend. It took the Aggies 10 games last year to reach that number as a team. Milligan scored the game-winning run and had three steals in the extra-inning win over Wichita State. She hit an inside the park home run against the Shockers on Sunday.
