Kartman, Shubert Earn A-Sun Softball Weekly Honors

MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State’s Hillary Kartman and USC Upstate’s Lexi Shubert collected this week’s Atlantic Sun Softball Player of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Monday.

Kartman earns her first career A-Sun Player of the Week honor after leading KSU’s offense this past week. She collected seven hits, including two home runs as the Owls went 4-1. Kartman batted .467 for the week, including going 5-6 in non-conference wins over Furman. Her slugging percentage was .867 and her on-base percentage reached .500 for the week. Kartman was the hero on Sunday as her two-run home run in the seventh inning against North Florida gave the Owls the series win. Kartman leads the team with 25 RBI and seven home runs this season.

Shubert won her first career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award after going 4-1 and pitching in all five games the Spartans played. To start the week, Shubert went 2-0 against ETSU in non-conference action. She struck out 13 batters in 12 innings of work, allowing only four hits. Against Jacksonville, Shubert continued her strong performance with a complete game win and nine strikeouts in the series opener. She finished the week pitching 29.1 innings combined and striking out 29 batters while only allowing one walk. Her combined ERA was 0.72 only allowing three earned runs all week.

– For the week, Shubert struck out 29 batters and only allowed one walk
– Threw three complete games and combined for an 0.72 ERA in five games pitched
