Kendall Grimm Added to NDSU Softball Coaching Staff

Kendall Grimm begins her first season as a graduate assistant coach for North Dakota State University. She was a four-year starter for the University of Wisconsin in the outfield and first base, and was a student assistant for the Badgers in 2014. Grimm was a two-time all-Big 10 Conference selection twice during her career, earning first team honors in 2012 and second team in 2013. She was a Big 10 Sportsmanship honoree in 2010.
Grimm hit .359 in starting all 57 games as a senior and led the Badgers to the Big 10 tournament championship and NCAA Regional berth. She hit .391 in the Big Ten as a senior. Grimm finished third in stolen bases, ninth in on-base percentage and 10th in batting average on the UW career charts.

Prior to the University of Wisconsin, she was a four-year letter winner in softball at Olathe East High School. She led the Hawks to the Kansas 6A state tournament all four seasons, including a pair of state championships in 2006 and 2007, and third place finish in 2009. Grimm was a three-time all-state first team selection, and was twice a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-South Central first team and NFCA All-America second team pick in 2008 and 2009. She was a four-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete while at Olathe East.

Grimm is a 2014 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and environmental studies. Grimm is pursuing a master’s degree in environmental engineering at North Dakota State.

North Dakota State (36-18) won its fifth Summit League Softball Tournament Championship over the past six seasons to advance to the NCAA Minneapolis Regional. NDSU defeated nationally-ranked Auburn in the first round. The Bison also won their third straight league regular season crown.

NDSU ranked No. 41 (out of 293 institutions) in the final 2014 NCAA Softball (Ratings Percentage Index) RPI. It is the highest RPI achieved by a Bison softball team. North Dakota State was No. 62 in 2013, No. 65 in 2009 and No. 73 in 2012. The Summit League ranked No. 13 out of 32 Division I softball leagues and conferences this season, a 10-place improvement since 2012.
