BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The athletic directors of the Southeastern Conference have approved LSU as the host site for the 2015 SEC Softball Tournament, which will run May 6-9, 2015, at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge.

It is the second time in program history that the league’s marquee event will be held in Baton Rouge, and the first to be held in the new Tiger Park, as the last time the league’s top teams were featured was in 2008 in the final year of the old stadium.

“We are extremely excited to be the host of one of the premier events in college softball,” LSU head softball coach Beth Torina said. “The competition at the SEC tournament is intense and exciting. It is so amazing that ESPN has given this event so much support, providing a window into one of the most exciting weeks of the year in college softball. LSU is proud to welcome all the other SEC schools to Baton Rouge, and we are excited for our fan base to have a chance to witness this first-hand. I know our top level facility and staff here in Baton Rouge will do all they can to make this a quality and memorable event for all the participants.”

With the growth and popularity of the sport of collegiate softball at an all-time high, the tournament will continue to have a home nationally on the ESPN family of networks, as every game of the event and the championship final will be broadcast live across the country, as well as online and on mobile devices through WatchESPN. Throughout the year, fans will be able to follow each of the teams better than ever before with the launch of the SEC Network and SEC Network+.

LSU has qualified for every SEC tournament since restarting the program back in 1997, including claiming five tournament championships which is tied for the most among any league institution. The 37 all-time wins in the event are the most among SEC schools, as the Tigers have hoisted nine divisional crowns and five regular season championships to its credit.
