Lundstrom Provides PC’s Offense To Claim Softball Player of the Week Honors

The Friars went 2-1 last week for the series win over Butler with Lundstrom single-handedly providing the offense in PC’s series-opening victory over the Bulldogs. The sophomore belted a pair of one-run home runs as Providence topped Butler 2-0 in Game 1 for the Friars’ first BIG EAST win of the season as well as its first victory in Friartown in 2015. For the week, Lundstrom boasted a lofty 2.286 slugging percentage off four homers, adding a .571 batting average, six runs batted in, four runs scored and a pair of walks.

The Red Storm remained undefeated in BIG EAST play (6-0) and improved to .500 overall on the year (13-13) by way of a pair of stellar outings by the senior. Carrullo went 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average, striking out four in two appearances over 10.2 innings of work as St. John’s earned the series sweep over Georgetown. Carrullo did not surrender an extra-base hit, with her first victory over the Hoyas being a complete-game shutout.
