McClelland and Goff Sweep Atlantic Sun Softball Weekly Awards for North Florida

MACON, Ga. – North Florida’s Stacy McClelland and Kayla Goff swept the opening Atlantic Sun Softball weekly honors, announced by the league office on Monday.

McClelland collects her first career Player of the Week award after leading the Osprey offense at the Troy Invitational with nine hits, including four extra-base hits this past weekend. She recorded hits and RBIs in each of the five North Florida victories. Her two-run home run against Buffalo sparked a late-rally comeback for UNF. She also hit a two-run homer in the win against Western Kentucky. For the tournament, McClelland slugged .773 with an on-base percentage of .409. Her fielding percentage was a perfect 1.000 for the week. The Ospreys defeated three teams who finished the 2014 season with an RPI rank of 130 or better.

Goff picks up her second career Pitcher of the Week honor going 3-0 in the circle for the Ospreys this past weekend. She pitched 17 total innings and recorded 20 strikeouts while only walking three. She did not allow a single earned run in three appearances. Her best performance came in the true road game at Troy to close out the weekend on Sunday. Goff struck out nine, while only allowing four hits as the Ospreys won, 3-0. North Florida is the lone unbeaten team in the A-Sun after the opening weekend.

– Pitched 17 total innings, including two complete-game shutouts in two starts for North Florida
– Combined for 20 strikeouts and only three walks over the weekend
– Held Troy to just four hits, while striking out nine in true road game to close out weekend
– Helped North Florida remain the lone unbeaten team in the A-Sun at 5-0 after the opening weekend
