MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee head softball coach Jeff Breeden announced the addition of two more to the 2014-15 recruiting class Friday, adding transfer-pitcher Megan Chocallo and catcher Danielle Muñoz
Megan Chocallo
Position: Pitcher … Bats/Throws: Right/Right
Chocallo, a transfer-pitcher from Towson, comes to Middle Tennessee after pitching in 33 games for the Tigers last season. The Newnan, Georgia native finished with a 4-6 record, while starting a team-high 22 games and tossing four compete games in 68.1 innings. She notched a season-high 11.0 innings pitched with seven strikeouts against Louisiana.
Prior to her time at Towson, Chocallo pitched for East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. She became the school’s all-time leader in innings pitched (649), strikeouts (661), wins (85) and saves (six). Throughout her productive four-year career, she was selected to the all-region and all-county squad every season. During her junior and senior seasons, she was selected to the all-state first team and the Times Herald Pitcher of the Year, while in her freshman and sophomore campaigns was a second-team all-state selection.
While attending Middle Tennessee, Chocallo will study aeronautics and plans on being an airline pilot, air traffic controller or dispatcher when she graduates.

“Megan is going to transfer in with some experience under her belt in the circle. She comes from a great travel organization in the East Cobb Bullets from Atlanta and has pitched at a high level and has won at the high level. We are expecting her to step right in and show some great leadership.”
Danielle Muñoz
Position: Catcher … Bats/Throws: Left/Right
Muñoz, a four-year letterwinner for Jim Maier at St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs, California, helped her team capture their first softball state championship in school history this year. She led the team in batting average (.506), RBI (32), doubles (eight) and on-base percentage (.527), while also being recognized as first-team all-league, all-Whittier Prep area and the offensive player of the year. As a junior and sophomore, Muñoz was also selected to the all-Whittier Prep area team, while in her freshman season she was selected rookie of the year.
Outside of her high school squad, Muñoz played for the Corona Angels and head coach Marty Tyson. The incoming freshman was a four-year member of the honor roll, Spanish Honor Society and a scholar-athlete. She plans on working toward optometry school and earning a doctorate in optometry degree.

“Danielle is coming from one of the top-five travel organizations in the country in the Corona Angels. We are very fortunate to get one of Marty Tyson’s players to come to Middle Tennessee. She is going to bring athleticism behind the plate and a good power-hitting bat.”
