NFCA Announces the 2014 Division I All-Region Teams

NFCALOUISVILLE, Ky. – For their impressive performances on the field of play this season, 392 players from 158 different programs have been chosen to the 2014 NFCA Division I All-Region squads.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2014 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

Three programs had all eight of their nominated players earn all-region accolades:  No. 10 Arizona, No. 12 Oklahoma and Hofstra. No. 1 Oregon, No. 7 Georgia, No. 13 Michigan and No. 20 Notre Dame followed closely behind with seven selections each, while No. 2 UCLA, No. 4 Arizona State, No. 6 Florida, No. 8 Washington, No. 18 Tulsa, Wisconsin and Purdue all picked up six nods. The eight-ranked Huskies and the 20th-rated Fighting Irish both reaped five first-team choices to guide the list in that category.

The 2014 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 28, via NFCA.org.
