Texas Softball opening week is finally here at McCombs Field, and it’s your turn to step up to the plate!
This is going to be a great opening homestand as this year’s team — with 12 letterwinners from 2013, and seven new freshmen — are hungry to build upon the 2013 season’s success and return to the Women’s College World Series semifinals. This past weekend, the Longhorns went into hostile territory in Louisiana and defeated three ranked opponents on their home fields (No. 13 ULL twice and No. 17 LSU). It was also a milestone weekend for head coach Connie Clark as she earned her 700th career victory following Saturday night’s win over the Ragin’ Cajuns.
AN OPENING DAY YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS
On Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., the Longhorns welcome in-state foe UTSA to Austin for the 2014 home opener at McCombs Field. Prior to the game, Texas Softball fans will celebrate the 2013 team, whose appearance in the Women’s College World Series was the fifth time in program history. After a special ceremony and unveiling at McCombs Field, 2013 All-American Blaire Luna will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
BE OUR VALENTINE AT THE TEXAS CLASSIC
We invite all Longhorns fans to celebrate Valentine’s Day with us this Friday, Feb. 14, as we welcome Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, and IPFW to Austin for the Texas Classic. The first 200 fans to enter Texas’ game at 4 p.m. on Friday will receive a FREE Texas Longhorns Money Chocolate Bar from Russell Stover candies. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with your team, a doubleheader, and some FREE chocolate!
We’ll close out the tournament with two games on Saturday, Feb. 15 (1 p.m. vs. Louisiana Tech and 4 p.m. against a matched seed), and a finale on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m.
