CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Coach Donna Papa’s squad took on the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at Anderson Stadium.
Game One

North Carolina got the scoring started in third, when the South Carolina pitcher bobbled a ground ball that let Stephanie Krider to score from third base. Erin Satterfield’s single at the next at bat brought home Aquila Mateen from second and the Heels led 2-0.

After two-and-a-half scoreless innings, Coach Papa sent Lauren Walker in to pinch hit at leadoff in the bottom of the eighth. Walker sent the very first pitch over the center field wall to give UNC the victory in game one.
Game Two
Carolina fell behind early to their southern counterparts and could not recover in game two of the day’s doubleheader.

The Gamecocks would score again in the third and seventh to give them 10 runs on the night.
The Tar Heels would score twice in the third when SC pitcher Hayley Copeland walked Erin Satterfield with the bases loaded and Jenna Kelly lined a single into left field bringing in Dani Garcielita. UNC would score once more in the bottom of the seventh but the late rally was ultimately cut short.
