NORMAN, Okla. – Three Sooners pitchers combined on a no-hitter as the Oklahoma softball team opened fall play with a 2-0 win over Temple College at the annual Fall Festival Friday night.

Junior Kelsey Stevens got the start and pitched the first three innings, getting eight of her nine outs via strikeout.

Freshman Paige Parker followed and was perfect in her two innings of work, recording four strikeouts. Senior Shelby Pendley then closed out the game by throwing three strikeouts over the final two innings.

After Stevens walked the game’s leadoff batter, she combined with the other OU pitchers to retire the final 21 Temple College hitters. In total, the trio struck out 15 batters with just one walk.

Oklahoma scored what turned out to be the game-winning run in the first inning.

Shelby Pendley led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Kelsey Arnold. Seniors Lauren Chamberlain and Georgia Casey each then drew walks of their own to fill the bases.

Junior Whitney Ellis then came through with the clutch hit as she dropped a bases-loaded single into shallow right center to score the game’s opening run.

Oklahoma added an insurance run in the sixth.

Freshman Nicole Pendley led off with a walk, one of nine on the day for OU hitters. Fellow freshman Destinee Lookout then pinch hit and drew a walk of her own. A wild pitch moved Pendley and pinch-runner Arnold into scoring position.

Two batters later, freshman Lea Wodach grounded out to shortstop to drive home Pendley with OU’s second run of the game.
