MOBILE, Ala. – It was announced today that former University of South Alabama softball assistant coach Mark Ryal has joined the Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball program to fulfill a similar role. Ryal exits the program after a single season, in which he helped guide the Jaguar program to its third-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance.
Ryal, a native of Dewar, Okla., which is approximately 115 miles from Stillwater, helped lead the Jaguars to a 42-14 overall record and Tuscaloosa Regional final appearance in the NCAA Tournament. USA was ranked as high as No. 11 in the NFCA Coaches poll midway through the season, and fell to national runner-up Alabama 3-0 in the Jaguars’ final game of the season. He instructed three Jaguars who received All-Sun Belt Conference honors, including a pair of outfielders.
USA head coach Becky Clark said that the search to fill the position left by Ryal is currently underway.
