MACON, Ga. – USC Upstate’s Lexi Shubert earned her second consecutive Atlantic Sun Softball weekly honor, while Lipscomb’s Caitlin Plocheck took home the Player of the Week honor, announced by the league office on Monday.

Plocheck, a freshman from Pasadena, Texas, earns her first A-Sun Player of the Week award after leading the Lady Bisons to a 4-1 week. She batted .588 for the week with hits in four of the five games. Her slugging percentage was 1.118 after going 9-11 in conference play. In Sunday’s doubleheader, Plocheck set career-highs with five hits and eight RBIs in a single-game. That marks the most of any Lipscomb player in a single game this season. For the week, Plocheck had five extra-base hits, including three doubles and two home runs. Defensively, she did not commit an error in 22 total chances.

Shubert picks up her third career weekly honor, second straight, after going 3-0 for the Spartans this past week. Shubert pitched a complete game against NC State to open the week, allowing only one run, while recording seven strikeouts. She carried that momentum into conference play, where Shubert shut down North Florida’s offense with two more victories. In game one, she pitched five innings allowing only one runner to cross the plate. In Sunday’s series finale, Shubert pitched another gem with a complete game shutout and six strikeouts. She finished the week with a combined 0.74 ERA and 16 strikeouts, while only giving up two walks.
