TAMPA, July 22, 2015 – University of South Florida Head Softball Coach Ken Eriksen announced today the addition of Jessica Moore as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.
Moore has played under Eriksen as a member of the USA Women’s National Softball Team for the past two years, helping lead the Red, White and Blue to back-to-back World Cup of Softball titles.
“Jess Moore is a competitor that is also tremendously knowledgeable of how to win at the highest level of softball,” Eriksen said.
A former All-American at the University of Oregon, Moore helped lead the Ducks to the Women’s College World Series in 2012 and three NCAA Super Regional appearances. Moore was also a three-time All-Pac-12 selection and was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year during her senior season. She graduated from Oregon in 2013 as the school record holder in appearances (176), wins (100) and strikeouts (915).
Following her record-breaking career with the Ducks, Moore joined the coaching staff at Idaho State for the 2014 season, where she helped develop a young pitching staff into Big Sky Conference champions. Under Moore’s guidance, pitcher Jessica Tolmie was named a second-team All-Big Sky Conference honoree while Haley Douglas set the single-season school record for wins with 19.
Moore joins fellow new assistant coach Tommy Santiago on Eriksen’s staff for 2016 and will work closely with the pitchers.
“Jess’ intuition combined with being a perfectionist at the art of pitching will lend itself to the benefit of our current staff and to those pitchers that have committed to us for the future,” Eriksen said.
